![]() That is the root of the armor with DEX limitations and it's heritage. The actual rules are derivatives of 3.5 and 4e, so if it seems disconnected ruleswise from 1e, that's the first reason why.ģe was where they introduced DEX limitations on armor based on some ignorant notion that armor restricts movement and a guy in leather is better protected then in mail. Look at it as a different game trying to recreate the feel of D&D and you should be good. The actual rules are as if you are a different game. And you got your dex add no matter your character wore.įor those who bought the full books, is this mistake still there, or have they justified it in some way ?Īnd evidently multi-classing is still allowed, but appears to be detrimental to characters below 4th level for some reason. I don't have my 1E books handy, but chain mail wasn't heavy armor. Seems to me, they should have kept the movement from 1e. ![]() Splint mail, Str below 15 speed reduced by 15. ![]() Str less than 13, speed reduced by 10 feet. Medium armor: hide, chain shirt, scale mail, and a breastplate. Light armor: leather and studded leather and add Dex bonus. Hunh ? One of my relatives who never gamed opinion is that chain was popular so W0tC made it into a disadvantage. Chain, if character Str is below 13, drops speed by 10 feet.
